I can't believe they botched the design of something so intrinsically simple. If you use the clippers right-handed, the lock engages every time you close the blades. So, you have to turn the clippers over and then the offset blades are on the right side, which makes them difficult to use. They also tend to jam closed in the packaging. Spring loading the handle would have been a good idea.

Helped us get 3 kids Christmas opened stress free! Gave one to all the men in the fam. They all seem happy. It now lives in my kitchen drawer and used often.
Worthy of design awards? Hardly. January 6, 2009
I purchased several of these for my husband, dad, brother and brothers-in-law who all love the latest gadgets. While it serves a purpose, it is not the wonder tool I expected. A good pair of utility scissors can cut through packaging better. You can pinch your hand between the handles while cutting. The release of the utility knife is too similar to the lever used to open the cutting blades, so you can cut yourself if you are not careful. The screwdriver in the handle is a handy addition. Since this tool won design and product innovation awards, I had high hopes, but it just doesn't live up to the hype.

I gave these out as Christmas presents and kept one for myself. I just love it, I always hated those clam shell packages but this thing makes short work of them. The box cutter and screw drivers are nice extras but it's the ease of opening clam shell packages that make this tool worth the price.

This is a must for Christmas or birthdays. I can't count how many times someone yelled "Where's the Open-It??" over the holidays! The razor blade feature makes it really unique!
